Menopause Incontinence and How to Deal with It

DON'T PAUSEUrinary incontinence affects between 30 and 70 percent of women during menopause and perimenopause. Women may experience either stress incontinence or urge incontinence due to reduced estrogen levels. It can occur in women regardless of whether or not they have had children, and it can bring quite a bit of frustration and embarrassment along with it.

Stress incontinence affects twice as many women as men. This type of incontinence is associated with leaking during certain types of physical activity or stress. If you have stress incontinence, you may leak urine when you sneeze, laugh, cough, bend over, walk or exercise. It is generally associated with weakened pelvic floor muscles, which can occur after pregnancy or with estrogen loss. Kegel muscles, or the muscles that stop the flow of urine, can be exercised to help tighten the pelvic floor muscles and reduce stress incontinence.

Urgency incontinence is also common after menopause and may be more common in women who have had c-sections or women who are obese. It causes a sudden, intense need to urinate. Kegel exercises may also benefit these woman, though lifestyle adjustments may be necessary as well. Reducing alcohol and caffeine intake can reduce bladder irritation, and regular exercise can help improve overall muscle tone. Women may also benefit from training their bladder by drinking larger amounts of water and then scheduling regular bathroom breaks. Special absorption pads can help guard against potentially embarrassing accidents.

DON’T PAUSE can be used to go straight to the root of the problem. It is designed to restore healthy estrogen levels to nourish the tissues and reduce urinary incontinence. DON’T PAUSE uses natural herbs that have been used for centuries to alleviate menopause symptoms and offers women a more natural approach for even their worst menopause symptoms, such as urinary incontinence.
